A construction permit for a new residential development located at 1622 S Wood Street in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood has been granted. The project will feature a four-story building with eight dwelling units, a basement, a rooftop deck, rooftop stair enclosures, a three-vehicle garage and four exterior parking spaces on a concrete pad.

The development will include four exterior parking spaces on a concrete pad and a front terrace. A vacant structure currently occupies the site. As for the replacement, SBSS Holdings LLC is the listed project owner, with Hanna Architects responsible for the design. Neither drawings nor renderings of the plans could be found online.

Transit accessibility includes nearby bus service for Routes 18 and 50 within walking distance. Residents will find the nearest CTA L Pink Line at the 18th Street station via a seven-minute walk southwest.

The general contractor for the project is FGAC Construction LLC, with a reported construction cost of $2 million. An estimated completion date has yet to be announced.

  1. For a neighborhood with such a warming name, it’s shocking how much TLC has been neglected in this area for so long. Regarding the soccer camp + other minor residential, I hope things keep pushing west. Garfield Park needs to reconnect with the Loop, not just by bus or Green Line.

    There’s a very clear fog that’s been around since the 60s.
