A new construction permit has been issued for a three-story, two-dwelling unit building with a basement at 1445 West Roscoe Street in Southport Corridor. The permit was issued on August 29 following a 37-day self-certification process that began on July 23.

The building will be constructed using a VA frame and will feature a first-floor rear deck, a private roof deck, and a detached garage with a roof deck. Plans were designed by self-certified architect Helen Liptak.

The total fee for the permit is $5,290, with $1,800 paid and $3,490 unpaid. The reported cost of the project is $756,150. When complete, the property will be a short walk from CTA Stations servicing the Brown Line.

  1. Do you know the unit count on the existing building? I can’t tell if the third meatal thing is a mailbox or not. Regardless, this doesn’t seem to net any new units (although certainly will improve the quality of housing in the area).
