A demolition permit has been issued for a two-story frame residence and a detached frame garage located at 427 W 60th Street in the Englewood neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as Norfolk Southern Railway Co. At the time of this writing, no plans appear to have been submitted to upgrade any of the zoning designations for this property and there are currently no permits for any future constructions.
The closest bus service for Route 24 can be found at the intersection of Yale & 60th Street via a five-minute walk east.
Leeway Wrecker Inc is serving as the demolition contractor on this project.

Imagine one day seeing this area with 7-8 story mid rises, retail on the bottom lining the blocks. One can dream!
I believe this is for the Norfolk Southern rail yard expansion project.
This is so sad. My mother actually lived at 227 W 60th st and that house was demolished for the Dan Ryan. An entire neighborhood removed now. The house she was born in at 5932 Stewart was also recently demolished for this RR expansion project as well.
