Now that structural work has reached the 25th floor, glass and metal cladding are beginning to take shape on CMK Companies’ 1400 S Wabash Avenue, a 30-story mixed-use high rise in South Loop. The tower will be 350 feet tall and include ground-level retail space as well as 299 rental units.
DAC Developments is now disassembling the tower crane at 808 N Cleveland Avenue, a 23-story mixed-use tower in Near North Side. The topped-out high rise is taking the place of an overgrown trapezoidal piece of land. Programming will include 7,500 square feet of retail space, 20,000 square feet of leasable offices, and 200 for-rent apartments.
Plans for a 12-story Old Town hotel known as “The Duke of Wells” have been brought back online. This week, the project at 1528 N Wells Street received its first official permit for foundation work to begin. With Condor Partners as the developer, the project will bring 203 new hotel rooms to the thoroughfare, already one of the city’s busiest restaurant and bar scenes. Construction was originally approved back in 2020, and will replace a currently empty lot that was previously the site of a since-demolished O’Brien’s restaurant.
Final facade work is underway for a nine-story mixed-use building known as “Platform 4611”, located at 4611 N Broadway in Uptown. The 103-foot-tall project is being developed by John Buck Company and Free Market Ventures, who have planned for 12,000 square feet of retail and 200 rental apartments above.
Sterling Bay, the real estate developer behind the $6 billion Lincoln Yards masterplan, has revealed plans for a new 15-story apartment building directly to its east in Lincoln Park. The project faces Sterling Bay’s mega-assemblage from across the North Branch river, calling for 359 new units on a parcel addressed as 2031-2033 N Kingsbury Avenue. Of the total unit count, 36 on-site residences will be affordable. In addition, Sterling Bay will contribute $5.1 million to the city affordable housing fund. The Chicago-based developer has partnered with Lone Star Fund as a joint venture, further continuing their collaboration beyond Lincoln Yards.
