  1. What? This should not be allowed.

  2. You have got to be kidding me. They are tearing down this historic house?

Wow. What an outrage. The previous owners looked to be restoring the place as well, judging by pictures on Redfin from when it sold a few months ago. How could anyone look at this and want to tear it down? There are plenty of empty lots in the city to be developed.

  4. Another building that I was looking at preserving after purchase! I guess the winning offer wanted the land more than I valued the post-rehab value here. Surprising

The house has been on the market for a long time. Sorry you didn’t proceed beyond the “looking at” stage.

    • It is a shame that you didn’t have enough money. Fortunately, I don’t think anyone is relying solely on you to save Chicago.
What would help would be a review of the historic/architectural value of the house by the city, who could then determine if it was feasible to allow a good return on restoration investment and prohibit extracting the maximum short-term profit at the expense of the urban fabric.

  5. DON’T DO IT !!!!!!
